Commissioner Franzese commented that
there are seminars which address substandard lots in inner
ring suburbs . She felt the City needed a well thought out
philosophy.

It was the consensus of the Planning Commission members that
information regarding how many lots presently exist in the
City which would qualify for this consideration be gotten
before -any policy could be formulated.

The matter was tabled for additional information.

7 . STAFF UPDATE

A. Proposed Ordinance Changes

The items contained in the memo from Urbia to the City Manager
addressed proposed ordinance changes as discussed at the joint
meeting of the Planning Commission and the City Council .

Commissioner Madden noted that the items addressed in the memo
did not take the form of recommendations to the City Council
from the Planning Commission.

Regarding the issue of attendance, Chairperson Faust felt the
original language should be put back into the ordinance . He
mentioned the issue of compensation for Commissioners to the
Mayor and to the staff .

Commissioner Werenicz inquired if compensation was legal .
Commissioner Gondorchin questioned whether this would be
compensation or a per diem. Urbia will research the matter but
noted that the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities had
advised that no planning commission members in the
metropolitan area receive any compensation .

Commissioner Franzese felt work rendered by commissioners is
recognized by compensation but this is not being proposed for
'next year ' s budget . She also felt the dollar amount mentioned
is not significant .

Chairperson Faust felt compensation is appropriate.
Commissioner Werenicz does not support compensation.
