• Planning Commission Minutes
June 21, 1994
Page 10
Chair Gondorchin opened the discussion on ground signs.
Commissioners Horst, Makowske and Franzese agreed to meet as a subcommittee to
develop a draft for an amendment to the ordinance relating to ground signs. They will
schedule the meeting date following the adjournment of tonight's meeting. The
subcommittee will develop the amendment, submit it to the Planning Commission, and
the Planning Commission's final draft will then be submitted to the City Attorney.
B. Fences to be Built on Corner Lots.
Mr. Hamer explained that the City Council requested the Planning Commission work
with staff to develop a policy regarding fences on corner lots. This request came
following the recent variance request from Paul Johnson, 2800 - 36th Avenue N.E.
The Planning Commission had recommended Council deny the request as they felt the
ordinance was clear that a 6 foot fence cannot be built between the structure to the
front yard set back line. Some Commissioners felt it might be more appropriate to
amend the ordinance rather than develop a policy. Hamer indicated.the Council wants
Wto prevent this problem for future requests similar in nature.
Commissioner Horst mentioned that the new owner of Town and Country Foods is a resident
of St. Anthony.
Commissioner Makowske reported that the Economic Development/Redevelopment Task
Force is continuing their prioritization on undeveloped and underdeveloped lots.
Mr. Hamer indicated that the plans to renovate the rental properties owned by MAKO, Inc.
are moving forward.
Commissioner Franzese said Ed Fiori of American Monarch, told her that that business is
nearing a sale.
VII.
