Ms. Townsend agreed to both requests. <br /> 5 Bergstrom thanked Ms. Townsend for her presentation. <br /> 6 3. APPLICATION CONFERENCE AND SKETCH PLAN. Staff, Planning Consultant,and <br /> 7 Commission to hear Hillcrest Developments"Application Conference" and"Sketch Plan" <br /> 8 for the redevelopment of the Apache Plaza. <br /> 9 Assistant City Manager Isom reviewed for the Commission that the application conference is con- <br /> 10 sistent with the May 15, 2000 update of the critical-path for planned unit development ordi- <br /> 11 nance/process and Hillcrest Development's redevelopment of the Apache Plaza. Proposed Ordi- <br /> 12 nance.2000-006 outlines the procedures for processing a Planned Unit Development. The appli- <br /> 13 cation conference and sketch plan are the first steps of said procedure. Isom noted for the Com- <br /> 14 mission that pertinent sections of the proposed ordinance are included in the agenda packets. <br /> Mr. Shardlow (DSU) addressed the Commission and stated that he was in attendance to represent <br /> it the Staff. Additionally, Hillcrest Development's application would be the first application to be <br /> 17 reviewed under the new PUD ordinance, and so it needed to be reviewed carefully. Furthermore, <br /> 18. Mr. Shardlow stated that this is the City's opportunity to ask questions of the developer,particularly <br /> 19 the need to define the range of uses that would be appropriated within the building and the intensity <br /> 20 of the landscaping. <br /> 21 Bergstrom thanked Mr. Shardlow for his input and attendance. <br /> 22 Anthony Gleekel, attorney for Hillcrest Development, addressed the Commission. Mr. Gleekel <br /> 23 stated that he had attended a meeting recently with Chair Bergstrom,Assistant City Attorney Isom, <br /> 24 and John Shardlow(DSU),and the application was reviewed during that meeting. Mr.Gleekel noted <br /> 25 that the application, application fee, cover letter, exhibits, and narrative that have been presented <br /> 26 represent the results of discussions held over the past several months. <br /> 27 Mr. Gleekel continued by stating that further information would be submitted, including a rudi- <br /> 28 mentary landscaping plan and other issues, such as parking islands, and the beautification of the <br /> 29 exterior building. Additionally,Hillcrest has met with a consultant regarding the watershed district <br /> 30 issue and different options are being reviewed and considered. With regard to lighting, Hillcrest <br /> 31 continues to work with Staff and designers in order to meet City Code and provide prospective <br /> 32 tenants with safe and effective lighting. <br /> Mr. Gleekel wished to be clear in stating that Hillcrest Development is not interested in placing any <br /> 4 housing or retail on the site. <br />
