Anthony Bulletin . No one failed to
receive or stated an objection to the contents of the
notice . The public hearing was set to consider a
variance request from Stan Carlson, operator of Rosie ' s
Restaurant, 2905 Kenzie Terrace , to be allowed to place
a second sign (measuring 2 . 5 ' x 12 ' ; 30 square feet) on
the east side of the building.

Staff Report

Assistant VanderHeyden explained to the Commission that
the measurement of 48 square feet provided in the notice
of public hearing is incorrect, but that the measurement
of 30 square .feet provided in the memo to the Commission
is correct . She then advised the Commission that
Rosie ' s Restaurant plans to install two identical
permanent signs , one on the south side of the
restaurant , and one on the east which will address
traffic on St . Anthony Boulevard and Kenzie Terrace.
She noted that the total square footage of the two signs
is well within the total signage square footage
allotment of 110 square feet .

The public hearing was opened at 7 : 40 p.m. by Chair
Madden, who invited the petitioner to present his case .

Michael McKee , McKee Sign Service, informed the
Commission that a permit had been secured for a sign on
the front of the building, and offered to answer any
questions from the Commission regarding the variance for
the east sign.

Commissioner Brownell asked Mr . McKee to describe the
location of the sign. Mr. McKee stated that the sign
will be placed on the mansard and will not extend above
the roof line.

Stan Carlson, operator of Rosie ' s Restaurant , explained
to the Commission that the angled position of the
restaurant on the lot necessitates a second sign which
would face traffic approaching the restaurant from
Silver Lake Road.

Commissioner Franzese complimented Mr . Carlson on the
tastefulness of the signage . •
