CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> 6 <br /> 7 The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance <br /> 8 was led by Mayor Ranallo. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 2. ROLL CALL <br /> 11 <br /> 12 Present: Mayor Ranallo; Councilmembers Marks and Wagner. <br /> 13 Absent: Councilmembers Makowske and Enrooth. <br /> 14 Staff Present: City Manager Burt. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 GUEST <br /> 17 Bob Slick, owner of The Alternative, thanked Councilmembers for allowing <br /> 18 the easement of an ordinance seven years ago which allowed his business to <br /> 19 be open during the 24-hour Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. This year <br /> 20 $28,000 was raised. The total raised over the seven year period is $201,000. <br /> 21 Slick thanked Mayor Ranallo for his cooperation in selling raffle tickets at the <br /> 22 event and presented him with a picture from the event. <br /> • 23 <br /> 24 Slick also thanked the St. Anthony Village Police Department for helping to <br /> 25 assure safety during the motor cycle run which raised $5,000. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Mayor Ranallo extended his appreciation to Bob Slick as owner of The <br /> 28 Alternative for his work on the Telethon which is identified with St. Anthony <br /> 29 Village. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Councilmember Enrooth arrived at 8:07. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Police Chief Engstrom commended Derrick Fischer and Staci Strande for their <br /> 36 assistance Sunday morning, August 26, 1990, in the apprehension of a <br /> 37 burglary suspect. This suspect was subsequently charged with first degree <br /> 38 burglary in Ramsey county. Mayor Ranallo presented the award and <br /> 39 thanked them for their outstanding citizenship. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Chief Engstrom also commended Robert Nehring, a three year member of the <br /> 42 police reserve, for his performance and actions on that same morning which <br /> 43 were beyond the call of his normal duties. His award was presented by <br /> • 44 Mayor Ranallo in appreciation for his dedication and actions which resulted <br /> 45 in the apprehension and arrest of the burglar. <br />
