Regular Council Meeting <br /> -August- 14, 1990, <br /> page 11 <br /> 1 Councilmember Wagner did not participate in the personal interviews <br /> I � 2 by the Council of those persons who indicated an interest in <br /> 3 being appointed to the Planning Commission. He had been advised <br /> 4 he could contact any of these people by, phone if he felt he would <br /> 5 need additional information other than that on their applications. <br /> G . <br /> 7 Councilmember Wagner indicated he did contact some of the applicants. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Dennis Murphy, who has served on the Cable Commission, had stated he <br /> 10 was interested in the appointment to the Planning Commission. He felt <br /> 11 it was time to move on to another area. Mr. Murphy also stated that <br /> 12 it would be appropriate for the Council to consider an appointment <br /> 13 to the Cable Cortmission of someone- Interested in public access. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Motion by Marks, second by Makowske to appoint Dennis Murphy to <br /> 16 the unexpired term of George Wagner on the Planning Commission. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 19 -% <br /> 20 Mayor Ranallo requested the City Manager to have a staff person draft <br /> 21 an article for the Bulletin regarding the vacancy on the Planning Com- <br /> 22 mission and encouraging any residents interested to apply. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 The City Manager advised the Council that the Finance Director is <br /> 25 interested in placing some of the City's interest earning accounts <br /> • 26 into higher interest accounts and CD's. It was noted that Firstar <br /> 27 will do this for the City. The Council concurred with the Finance <br /> 28 Director's recommendation. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 At a previous Council meeting, a resident had requested a variance <br /> 31 for the overhang on a garage he was constructing. At that time he <br /> 32 noted a problem he was experiencing with the placement of a utility <br /> 33 pole when gaining access to his garage. This resident is requesting <br /> 34 the City to pay the costs for moving one utility pole and he will <br /> 35 pay for moving the other. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 The City Manager recommended against the Council approving this request <br /> 38 noting this may be a costly precedent. The Councilmember concurred and <br /> 39 denied the request. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Copies of the proposed budget were distributed to the Councilmembers. <br /> 42 The City Manager advised that any recommended changes will be on the <br /> 43 agenda on the next Council .meeting. <br /> 44 <br /> 4; The July 1990 budget report was received by the City Manager today. <br /> 46 He noted that this report does have the current status as requested <br /> 47 by the City Council but does not include some of the revenues and <br /> 46 expenditures. <br /> 49 <br /> 50 The report from the Finance Director includes overtime expenses for <br />
