City Council Regular Meeting Minutes
September 27, 1994
Page 6
Morrison reported that the Planning Commissiondid recommend the HRA proceed with the
purchase of 3111 Silver Lake Road. There is a public hearing scheduled for the Redevelopment
Plan on October 11th. The City will then close on the property with the owner with the
assistance of Dorsey and Whitney. At that time, they can begin to request proposals from
developers.
Mornson reported that the Planning Commission also requested that a Concept Review meeting
be scheduled with Knox Lumber and CUB Foods prior to the public hearings. Morrison added
that he has been in contact with both businesses and they have agreed to the idea. He stated that
the Planning Commission also requested that one or two of the councilmembers be in attendance
to offer their input.
Ranallo agreed to the idea and thought it would be of benefit to the Planning Commission. He
suggested that it be scheduled separately from the Planning Commission meeting.
Marks noted that it would also be helpful to have the City Attorney present at the Planning
Commission meeting when these issues were being addressed. Morrison responded that this has
already been scheduled.
Council indicated that while they (one or two)would be willing to attend as spectators, they do
not want to take authority from the Planning Commission or circumvent the process.
VIII.
