Consider payment of claims. <br />6 <br />7 Motion by Councilmember Stille, seconded by Councilmember Jenson, to approve the Consent <br />8 Agenda items. <br />9 <br />10 Motion carried unanimously. <br />11 <br />12 IV. PUBLIC HEARING - NONE. <br />13 <br />14 V. REPORTS FROM COMMISSION AND STAFF. <br />15 <br />16 A. Approval of the Parks Commission Work Plan. Scott Benz. Chair, presenting. <br />17 <br />18 Parks Commission Chair Benz presented the Parks Commission 2015 Work Plan and advised <br />19 that projects planned for 2015 include exploring pedestrian and bike friendly routes including <br />20 sidewalks and providing input on street improvement projects or other projects. He stated the <br />21 Parks Commission will also be conducting an inventory of all parks equipment in order to <br />22 develop a timeline for replacing that equipment and to make sure there is equipment available for <br />23 kids of all ages. He stated the Parks Commission will also be encouraging native plantings to <br />24 support natural habitat of pollinator plants and the Parks Commission believes that a good place <br />25 for native plantings is the new storm water pond in Central Park. He stated other locations for <br />26 native plantings might include areas around City property as plants are changed or replaced. <br />27 <br />28 Motion by Councilmember Stille, seconded by Councilmember Gray, to approve the Parks <br />29 Commission 2015 Work Plan as presented. <br />30 <br />31 Motion carried unanimously. <br />32 <br />33 Mayor Faust thanked all of the citizen volunteers on the Parks Commission for their service. <br />34 <br />35 VI. GENERAL BUSINESS OF COUNCIL. <br />36 <br />37 A. Presentation from Ramsey County Commissioner Mary Jo McGuire. <br />38 <br />39 Ramsey County Commissioner McGuire thanked the City Council for the opportunity to speak <br />40 and discussed her representation of District 2 in Ramsey County and the standing committees <br />41 and community committees she serves on including the Transportation Advisory Board. She <br />42 advised that she serves as Chair of the Legislative Committee and they are supporting several <br />43 public safety and public health initiatives, including victim advocacy services, school -based <br />44 workforce career counselors, and bonding issues. She advised that Ramsey County is <br />45 coordinating with Hennepin County on County Road C and 29a' Avenue and is aware that the <br />46 City was unsuccessful in getting through the regional solicitation program and the Transportation <br />47 Advisory Board is analyzing that process to make sure communities have the ability to compete <br />48 in that process and will continue to work on the future reconstruction of the roadway.
