VILLAGE OF ST, ANTHONY <br /> COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> August 26, 1969 <br /> The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 8:00 o'clock P.M. <br /> The following were present at roll call : O'Connor, Crouse, Levandowski , <br /> Absent: Emond, Dougherty <br /> Also present: Raymond Haik, Village Attorney <br /> John Printon, Village Manager <br /> Motion by Councilman Levandowski and seconded by Councilman Crouse, that the <br /> minutes of the regular meeting of August 12, 1969 be approved as submitted. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> The Mayor opened the hearing on the Park Bond Referendum, and explained in detail, <br /> the reasons for considering the acquisition of additional land, and ideas of its— <br /> development. Mrs. Safronski, League of Women Voters, joined in the park discuss- <br /> ion, pointing out the environmental recommendations made by the Village Park <br /> Planners in 1961. Mr, Art Schwalm asked several questions regarding the proposed <br /> park land; whether the property was in fact in New Brighton, and whether the land <br /> could be sold if a need for additional park land would diminish. The Council <br /> informed Mr. Schwalm that the property was wholly within the Village boundaries <br /> and that the land could be sold if it was found to be surplus park property in <br /> the future. There being no further questions, the Mayor closed the hearing. <br /> Dr. Jerry Harty presented the Planning Board Minutes of the August 19, 1969 <br /> Board meeting. <br /> After discussion, motion by Councilman Crouse and seconded by Councilman <br /> Levandowski that a 540 sq. ft. variance be granted Play World Inc. for a sign <br /> to be located on the north side of the building. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Robert Bell, Attorney for Play World Inc., requested the Council to further <br /> consider an additional sign 40' x 8' on the east side of the building. He felt <br /> his client would be discriminated against if not allowed to properly sign the <br /> building on the east end. The size of the building and the blank brick wall, <br /> he said, would be enhanced by the sign. <br /> Motion by Councilman Levandowski and seconded by Councilman Crouse that a 320 <br /> sq. ft. variance be granted for a second sign on the east side of the Arlans <br /> building. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> / Motion by Councilman Crouse and seconded by Mayor O'C-onnor that a one foot side <br /> yard variance be granted to enlarge a garage at 3216-36th Avenue N.E. <br /> Motion carried.
