Anthony
3301 Silver Lake Road
St . Anthony, Mn. 55418
Re : Replacement of bridges over C.P. Rail System track on
Silver Lake Road just North of County Road D
Dear Mr. Mornson,
This letter is to confirm our phone discussion of May 17, 1996 .
Ramsey County was successful in soliciting Federal bridge replacement
funds for the referenced twin bridges. Funding has been approved for
the year 2000 . However, the County will attempt to advance the funding
0 to an earlier year. The bridge under the north bound lanes is in very
poor condition and it is a distinct possibilty that major maintenance
activities may be required before thQ year 2000 . The fitting of the new
twin bridge into the site will require the reconstruction and
rehabilitation of the roadway leading to and from the bridge. Total
segment to be affected by this project will be that part of Silver Lake
Road located between County Road D and Silver Lane .
At present, we are soliciting requests for proposals from consulting
engineers who are on the County' s list of approved bridge design
specialists. Following the selection of the project consultant, we will
enter into the public and agency involvement process . Following the
involvement process, project design parameters will be selected and
final plans and reports will be prepared for construction. We encourage
city participation during the public and agency involvement process .
We will be holding neighborhood informational meetings and a public
hearing if necessary. We will request the City' s involvement at the
meetings . Our project can not come to fruition without the City' s
approval . Consequently, it is extremely important that we do work
together throughout this project .
I had previously discussed this project with Larry Hamer and Larry
agreed to work with us as the project progresses. It may be an
opportune time for the City to update some of its infrasturcture
located on or along Silver Lake Road. For instance, Larry thought the
OCity May be interested in adding a sidewalk along the eastern edge of
the road. Water and sewer improvements or repairs may also be a
consideration.
Minnesota's First Home Bale County
pnnted on recycled paper with a minimum of 10%postconsumer content
t
