We <br /> have extended this code to cover our city code inspections as well. <br /> 1. You represent the fire department and the city. Look and act appropriately. <br /> 2. Always ask the owner/manager of the property if a fire inspection is <br /> • convenient at this time. Have the owner/manager accompany you on the <br /> inspection. <br /> 3. If you discover a code violation, explain the nature of that violation and <br /> why it should be corrected. <br /> 4. Explain what should be done to correct the violation. If options are <br /> available,describe those options. <br /> 5. Set a deadline for compliance. The time allowed will depend on the impact <br /> of the violation on life safety and the ability of the owner to comply. <br /> 6. Follow up. <br /> 7. If you sense a problem with compliance, record everything. <br />
