He leads a team of architects, urban designers <br /> and landscape architects in preparing integrative solutions to urban problems. <br /> Seeking and obtaining public approvals and bringing design issues into the <br /> public forum is a key part of this integrative approach, as are managing and <br /> coordinating consultants. In his designs, Victor seeks to create buildings <br /> which are responsive to their settings,and provide public spaces which <br /> connect the buildings and the cities of which they are to be a part. <br /> Some projects Victor has been involved with are:a retail,commercial and <br /> housing complex for Santa Fe and an Ecumenical Center outside of Mexico <br /> City, The Tenjin Galleria in the commercial heart of Fukuoka City;a district <br /> preservation and development plan for Ohimachi,Tokyo which included the <br /> design for a major department and rail station; a twenty-six story residential <br /> tower and reuse plan for the landmark Towers complex on Central Park West; <br /> and a family-oriented apartment building set within the historic fabric of <br /> Brooklyn's Park Slope. Victor also helped create the master plan and design <br /> guidelines for Battery Park City and was responsible for the design of the <br /> esplanade along the Hudson River. <br /> Victor helped orchestrate the "Mississippi Riverfront.- Vision and Implementa- <br /> tion"program and served as the lead urban designer in preparing its analyses <br /> and recommendations. He was also instrumental in bringing together the <br /> Urban Design Advisory Group and in promoting the values of design for the <br /> public realm to numerous government, civic and private groups. He continues <br /> to prepare design criteria and advises government officials on issues pertain- <br /> ing to riverfront development.Although Cuningham Group funded this <br /> initiative, its real clients have been the city's elected officials, its agencies and <br /> concerned citizens. <br /> • <br />
