4
l
February 21 , 1999
"You and I"
What chain of events have led me to such anger and despair?
I need a better understanding - a detailed description of
events which have led up to the problems the people bounding
the Silver Point Park now face. What a precarious position
we are in -- LOSING OUR HOMES.
Does St. Anthony lack vision? We have enough decaying
property in St. Anthony. Now, we need four to six homes to
provide acreage for a larger pond at Silver Point . Don' t
tarnish the silver! We have never had a flood problem here.
Our heavy rains have always drained within a day or two. We
have destroyed the park, no ice staking - no park for the
tiny tots. The kids are hanging out at Perkins -- There is
a message there.
I am the generational gap in my family. I meet the school
bus for my Wilshire park nephew. I am home for the middle
school and high school boys. The boys study here, play
here, learn to cook and work here. The oldest boy is having
. a grass cutting job in this complex with storage of his
equipment at my home. They attend piano classes and
practice in my home since I maintain the piano. They are my
family, I 'm helping their poor-working family. I like
helping. They give me insurmountable joy.
We all have family and home ties in this neighborhood. I
picked my home for it' s large kitchen. I took care of my
invalid uncle and the larger kitchen beats climbing over
crutches, wheel chairs, etc. So the kitchen, not the woods,
appealed to me. I thought this was resolved at the fall
meeting. We got the "Grand Canyon" and "The Great Wall of
China" and Harding can' t dig 5 feet where the problem is.
Fix the problem at the site. Why are streets being repaired
on the West End of Silver Lake Road until the flooding there,
not here, is corrected?
Why can' t $11 million for Town and Country be prorated over
10-15-25 years? What a wonderful plan, a gateway to St.
Anthony. The retail is DEAD. Use Apache Plaza for the
development -- not the Village. I need to see projection
for the $11 million. I am wondering too why St. Anthony is
repairing the roof for Krause Anderson property. Ask them
to sell for Market Value only -- no moving costs -- and let
me know their answer. We here along 88 say NO.
. Florence Iverson
2812 Hwy 88 789-1295
