They felt the next issue to be addressed is the resident's personal <br /> safety if faced with power outages, securing their money,personal protection, etc. <br /> Tentatively, staffing for 12/31/1999 and 1/1/2000, in the event of a systems failure with either <br /> the City's internal system, e.g. sewer and water, or to the external system, e.g. NSP,will be as <br /> follows: <br /> 1. Police will have a normal shift of 3 or 4 officers plus the Chief, Supervisors and an <br /> additional 4 or 5 officers. There will be officers stationed at the Police Station and <br /> on the streets of St. Anthony,Lauderdale and Falcon Heights. The Chief has <br /> informed the officers that all vacation and compensation days will not be scheduled <br /> during 12/31/99 through 1/7/99. <br /> 2. Fire will have a normal shift plus one firefighter,who will be stationed at the Fire <br /> Station from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. to answer phones. <br /> 3. Public Works will have a full staff on duty from 11 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. The Public <br /> Works Director and Supervisor will be on during that time as well. These <br /> employees will be stationed at the Public Works garage, filtration plant, lift stations <br /> and well house. <br /> 4. The Management Assistant and a police officer will be at City Hall covering the <br /> switchboard. <br /> Essentially, all public buildings will be open and in operation on 12/31/1999 from 11p.m. <br /> to 3a.m. Chief Johnson, as the City's Emergency Manager,will call everyone <br /> according to the notification schedule on 1/1/2000 to report any and all situations. <br /> I <br />
