RESOLUTION 65-009 <br /> RESOLUTION REQUIESTIDIG RULES PROPOSED B-1 TH SECRETARY hi;D TIM, BOARD <br /> RELhTING TO TEEPORARY ZD OCCASIONAL EI;PLOYE S UNDER PUBLIC LEPLOYEES <br /> RETIRENILNT ASSOCLMON "CT <br /> WHEREtiS the Secretary and the Board of Public Employees <br /> Retirement Association has promolgated Rule 2 REPORTING OF EI,iFLOYS <br /> for the alleged purpose of providing a uniform guide for reporting <br /> new public employees and causing proper deductions to be made from <br /> their compensation for the benefit of the retirement fund and, <br /> .�HLR.j,S under Subdivision 3, Section 6, the board and <br /> the secretary have defined temporary, emergency and seasonal employees <br /> to include employees working 60 or more days or employees earning in <br /> excess of 45 in any one month, and <br /> WHERE.i,S this rule imposes a hardship upon employers by <br /> requiring a disproportionate matching amount plus 21%, totaling 81%, <br /> to be deducted on behalf of such employees, and <br /> 'WHEREAS the result of Rule 2, Reporting of Employees, <br /> Subdivision 3, Paragraph 6, shall cover employees under Public Employees <br /> Retirement Association who have no intention nor desire of securing the <br /> benefits; therefore allowing the Village's contribution to be applied <br /> against the unfunded deficit projected for the Association rather than <br /> protect any particular class of employees, <br /> • NOiJ THERiFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Village Council of <br /> the Village of St. Anthony respectfully request the secretary and the <br /> board of trustees of the Public Employees Retirement Association to <br /> review and revise Rule 2, Reporting of Employees, Subdivision 3, <br /> Paragraph 6, requiring all municipalities to maintain employees of <br /> temporary, emergency or seasonal nature for a period of 90 days in <br /> any one calendar year regardless of the amount of compensation earned <br /> without causing deductions to be made from the compensation for the <br /> benefit of the Retirement Fund and without requiring a contribution <br /> in the amount of 82% on any such employee expected to be made by a <br /> municipality, <br /> AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution <br /> attested by the Village Clerk shall be sent to the Senator and <br /> Representatives from this District and to the executive secretary <br /> of the Association and to the Probers of the Association's Board of <br /> Trustees, <br /> Dated this 26th day of January, 1965 <br /> Attest: <br /> ��y ••� MAyor <br /> Clerk <br /> Approved as to form and legality: let <br /> Ma r <br /> Village Attorney <br />
