RESOLUTION NO. 68-025 <br /> • RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF <br /> A SECOND METROPOLITAN AIRPORT <br /> 14HEREAS the Metropolitan Airport Commission has proposed to estab- <br /> lish a new airport to serve the metropolitan area of Minneapolis and St. Paul , <br /> and <br /> UHEREAS, the decision making process as to location of the airport <br /> site has been made by officials who are not representative of the residents <br /> of the suburban metropolitan communities which will be directly affected <br /> by air traffic at the two proposed sites designated as the South Site in <br /> Blaine and the North Site located primarily in Ham Lake Township, and, <br /> WHEREAS, newspaper reports indicate the other sites designated <br /> as the Isanti , Farmington and others do not appear to be under serious <br /> consideration, and <br /> l-hiEREAS, the location of a large metropolitan airport in close <br /> proximity to residentially developed areas is an imposition and an unwise <br /> disruption of existing developments, <br /> NOId THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Village Council of St. Anthony: <br /> 1. Oppose the establishment of the airport site known as the <br /> South Site. <br /> • 2. Endorse the enactment by the Minnesota Legislature of a <br /> bill to provide for political representation on the Metrop- <br /> olitan Airports Commission provided by elected representation <br /> of residents of the Seven County Metropolitan Area. <br /> 3. Request a more detailed analysis of the traffic patterns of <br /> present and known aircraft, and of aircraft expected to be <br /> built in the immediate future. <br /> 4. Require the Metropolitan Airports Commission to disclose <br /> all public investments in land and facilities at the North <br /> Site, and the South Site. <br /> 5. If it appears that only the North Site and the South Site <br /> are under serious consideration, the Council favors the <br /> North Site. <br /> 6. The Village Mayor, Manager, and attorney be directed to <br /> appear at hearings of the Metropolitan Airports Commission <br /> and other public bodies to express the opposition of the <br /> St. Anthony Village Council to the South Site and the <br /> North Site. <br /> Adopted this 23rd day of April, 1968 <br /> • <br /> _ <br /> ATTEST: Mayor_ <br /> Village erk Vi age Manager <br />
