ANTHONY <br /> RESOLUTION 00-055 <br /> RESOLUTION ORDERING PROPERTY APPRAISALS, <br /> PURCHASE OF EASEMENTS, AND PREPARATION OF FINAL PLANS <br /> FOR STORM WATER IMPROVEMENTS AT HARDING STREET <br /> WHEREAS, over a period of many years,the City of St.Anthony has experienced numerous flooding <br /> problems within certain areas in the City at times of heavy rainfalls in short periods of <br /> time, and as a result of such rainfall events many structures within the City have <br /> experienced flood damage; and <br /> WHEREAS, within recent years the City has obtained certain financial assistance and has engaged in <br /> appropriation of City funds in its efforts to mitigate the flood damages; and <br /> WHEREAS, steps have been taken in certain portions of the City to complete projects which are <br /> • designed to reduce the extent to which such flooding problems occur; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City wishes to take additional steps, to the extent it is able to do so within the limits <br /> of its financial resources, to continue its efforts to mitigate and reduce the flooding <br /> problems experienced within the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council in its efforts to proceed with its flood mitigation projects and programs <br /> has directed the engineering firm of WSB & Associates, Inc. to prepare a study of the <br /> various options available to the City for dealing with storm water and for reducing flood <br /> damage within the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, after a review of the feasibility study by residents and by the City Council, WSB & <br /> Associates,Inc.has developed certain alternatives to be considered by the City Council <br /> as possible projects to mitigate flood damages within the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted a public meeting for purposes of discussing the <br /> alternatives and the related costs and other factors; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has met with and received comments from the affected property owners <br /> regarding the proposed improvements. <br /> • <br /> F.\WPW rN\CLIENT\stanthony\Engstatusrpt.wpd <br />
