CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> • RESOLUTION 00-058 <br /> A RESOLUTION REGARDING RAMSEY COUNTY <br /> CORRECTIONS CONTRACT <br /> WHEREAS, Northwest Youth and Family services has been providing Diversion Services to <br /> juvenile offenders for the past 25 years; and <br /> WHEREAS, these services have consistently been provided in a cost effective, community- <br /> based model involving collaboration with local law enforcement departments, <br /> the Ramsey County Corrections Department and the Ramsey County Attorney's <br /> Office; and <br /> WHEREAS, the recidivism rate for young persons served through this program is <br /> consistently around 16 percent; and <br /> WHEREAS, 329 young people and their families were served by this program in 1999 and <br /> 360 young people and their families were served in 1998; and <br /> WHEREAS, local municipality monies are provided to supplement the cost of these services; <br /> and <br /> • WHEREAS, a Youth Intervention Program Grant is received from the State to additionally <br /> fund these services; and <br /> WHEREAS, we wish to continue to have these issues addressed in a timely manner with <br /> emphasis on early intervention with a community-based setting. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of St. Anthony <br /> hereby strongly encourages the Ramsey County Manager and the Ramsey County Board to <br /> provide funding at the same level in 2001 as in 2000, the Diversion Services provided through <br /> Northwest Youth and Family Services. <br /> Adopted this 255 day of , 2000 <br /> May <br /> ATTEST: <br /> City Clerk <br /> Reviewed by Administration: <br /> City M ager <br />
