• CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> RESOLUTIONO 1-071 <br /> A RESOLUTION GRANTING THE CITY OF ST. ANTHONY'S CONSENT <br /> FOR THE SUBURBAN HENNEPIN REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT'S ACQUISITION <br /> OF THE SALVATION ARMY CAMP PROPERTY <br /> WHEREAS, the suburban Hennepin Regional Park District (Park District) desires to acquire the <br /> Salvation Army Camp property located in the City of St. Anthony, Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Salvation Army Camp property's legal description is attached hereto as Exhibit <br /> "A"• and <br /> WHEREAS, the Park District's statutory duties include the acquisition, development and <br /> maintenance of large parks, wildlife sanctuaries, forest and other reservations, and <br /> means for public access to ;historic sites and to lakes, rivers, streams and to other <br /> natural phenomena; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Park District operates seven park reserves, nine regional parks, six regional trail <br /> • corridors and two regional special recreational features comprising over 26,000 acres <br /> of land located in six counties; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Park District's mission is to promote environmental stewardship through recreation <br /> and education in a natural resources based park system; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Salvation Army desires to sell the camp property to the park District; and <br /> WHEREAS, the park District, in the operation of its regional parks, park reserves and other facilities <br /> has demonstrated its knowledge and experience in developing, administering and <br /> maintaining high quality park facilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City recognizes the advantages to the public in having the park District acquire and <br /> develop a regional park facility in St. Anthony; and <br /> WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. Sec. 398.09(b)(1) states that the Park District may not"acquire real estate <br /> by purchase or condemnation which is located within the boundaries of an incorporated <br /> statutory City or City unless the governing body of such statutory City or City shall have <br /> consented thereto by resolution duly adopted." <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of St. Anthony that it does <br /> • hereby grant to the Park District consent to acquire by purchase the Salvation Army Camp property as <br /> described on Exhibit A to this resolution. <br />
