Over the past several months the fire department's truck <br /> committee has been investigating the availability of manufacturer's demonstrators.To discover if any <br /> available apparatus would meet our needs and provide us a savings in this purchase. Over the past <br /> thirty days we have advertised for bid proposals from manufactures of fire motor apparatus. <br /> On Friday April 11,2003 The Fire Department received six bids on our departments pumping fire <br /> motor apparatus specifications.The following are the Bid proposals we received; <br /> 1. Emergency One Inc. $315,000- NewApparatus for Demo Status 2003 Typhoon <br /> • 2. Pierce Manufacturing $309,995- (Top Mount Pump Panel) New Apparatus for Demo <br /> Status 2003 Saber <br /> 3. Pierce Manufacturing $305,935- (Side Mount Pump Panel) NewApparatus for Demo <br /> Status 2003 Saber <br /> 4. Custom Fire Inc. $271,965 (Custom Cab) NewApparatus for Demo Status 2003 <br /> Spartan Advantage <br /> 5. Custom Fire Inc. $265,090 (Commercial Cab) Current Demo Apparatus 2003 <br /> Sterling Full Response <br /> 6. General Safety $245,916 Current Demo Apparatus 2001 HME <br /> The Truck Committee of nine staff has reviewed all bids for compliance and accuracy with our <br /> advertised bid specifications. The Committee has recommended to me to request of the City <br /> Council to purchase the low bidder General Safety for the apparatus,its pertinent equipment <br /> and$1000 allowance for Graphics and to transfer the two mobile radios,for the amount of <br /> $246,916. <br /> This Pumping Engine Apparatus is a current demo for General Safety Corp.The apparatus is a 2002 <br /> HME six person cab with 11,000 to 12,000 miles,a 1250 gpm pump a 1000 gallon water tank,an A <br /> &B foam system and will be fully equipped and fully warranted as a new apparatus.The purchase <br /> price includes several modifications in addition to all new firefighting equipment for the apparatus <br /> replacing the current 28-year-old equipment we have on the current Apparatus this is replacing. <br /> • <br />
