CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> • STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RESOLUTION 08-033 <br /> RESOLUTION TO APPROVE A REQUEST TO KEEP <br /> BANTAM SILKIE CHICKENS AS PETS IN AN R-1 ZONING DISTRICT <br /> WHEREAS, Staff received a request for information from Ms. Sang Tran about whether <br /> or not the City allows chickens in the residential zoning district; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City of St. Anthony Code of Ordinances, Section 1210.02 specifies that <br /> livestock, including chickens, require approval from the City Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Tran has submitted a written request for approval from the City <br /> Council, as outlined in Subsection 1210.02, to approve her request to keep <br /> three female Silkie chicks as pets; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Tran has provided additional information about the Silkie chicken as a <br /> specialty breed unique among chickens, which is kept as a pet because of its <br /> appearance, size and quiet temperament and is not generally considered for <br /> consumption in the United States; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Tran also stated that she has spoken with her neighbors and advised <br /> Staff that they are not opposed to her family keeping Silkie chickens as <br /> pets; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Tran described the enclosure that will house the Silkie chickens and <br /> that it will be kept in the fenced back yard; and <br /> WHEREAS, Staff contacted Hennepin County Environmental Health regarding any <br /> concerns that they have with this request and they had none, that this matter <br /> was within the City's jurisdiction; and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of St. Anthony has completed its <br /> consideration of the request for approval to keep as pets no more than three <br /> (3) female Bantam Silkie chickens in an R-1 Zoning District and do hereby <br /> approve this request from Ms. Sang Tran, dated April 21, 2008. <br /> Adopted this 13th day of May, 2008. <br /> Mayor <br /> r- <br /> ATTEST: <br /> • 7city Clerk <br /> Reviewed for administratio <br /> City Manager <br />
