CITY OF ST. ANTHONY VILLAGE <br /> RESOLUTION 11-021 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT RELATING TO THE <br /> EAST METRO SPECIAL WEAPONS AND TACTICS TEAM WITH THE CITIES OF NEW <br /> BRIGHTON DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, NORTH ST. PAUL POLICE <br /> DEPARTMENT, ROSEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE UNIVERSITY OF <br /> MINNESOTA POLICE DEPARTMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE POLICE CHIEF TO <br /> EXECUTE THE SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF <br /> ST. ANTHONY VILLAGE <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of St. Anthony Village recognizes the current need for <br /> increased police protection and law enforcement services; and <br /> WHEREAS, the St. Anthony Police Department has operated in a combined SWAT Team <br /> since 2002; and <br /> WHEREAS, the combined SWAT Team had previously operated under a mutual aid <br /> agreement; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2011 contract is a Joint Powers Agreement; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of St. Anthony Village finds it is in their common interests and <br /> benefits the citizens of the City of St. Anthony Village to enter into a Joint <br /> Powers Agreement with the Cities of New Brighton Department of Public <br /> Safety, North St. Paul Police Department, Roseville Police Department, and the <br /> University of Minnesota Police Department. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Anthony Village <br /> hereby approves the Joint Powers Agreement Relating to the East Metro Special Weapons <br /> and Tactics Team with the Cities of New Brighton Department of Public Safety, North St. <br /> Paul Police Department, Roseville Police Department and the University of Minnesota Police <br /> Department and authorizes the Police Chief to execute said Agreement on behalf of the City <br /> of St. Anthony Village. <br /> Adopted this 22nd day of February, 2011. <br /> Mayor <br /> ATTEST: l <br /> City Clerk <br /> Review for Administration: <br /> City Manager <br />
