CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RESOLUTION 11-069 <br /> RESOLUTION TO APPROVE A REQUEST TO KEEP <br /> FOUR(4)FEMALE CHICKENS IN AN R-1 ZONING DISTRICT <br /> WHEREAS, Staff received a request for information from Ms. Kay Steffenson, 2816 Coolidge Street <br /> NE, about whether or not the City allows chickens in the residential zoning district; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City of St. Anthony Code of Ordinances, Section 91.56xeeping of Certain Animals, <br /> specifies that livestock, including chickens,require approval from the City Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Steffenson has submitted a written request for approval from the City Council, as <br /> outlined in Subsection 91.56, to approve her request to keep chickens; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Steffenson also stated that she has spoken with her neighbors and advised Staff that <br /> they are not opposed to her family keeping chickens; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Steffenson described the enclosure that will house the chickens and that it will be <br /> kept in the fenced back yard; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hennepin County Environmental Health Division has stated that this matter is within the <br /> City's jurisdiction and authority; and <br /> WHEREAS, at the October 25, 2011 City Council meeting,the City Council approved Ms. Kay <br /> Steffenson to have three (3) female chickens; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Kay Steffenson's original request was for four(4) female chickens. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,that the City of St. Anthony has reconsidered the request for <br /> approval to keep four(4) female chickens in an R-1 Zoning District with the stipulation the homeowner <br /> would not keep male roosters and do hereby approve this request from Ms. Kay Steffenson, dated <br /> November 8, 2011. <br /> Adopted this 8th day of November,2011. <br /> Mayor <br /> ATTEST: &,&��/D <br /> City Clerk <br /> Reviewed for administration: <br /> Interim ity Manager <br />
