ANTHONY _ <br /> COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> June 6, 1967 <br /> The special meeting of the Village Council of St. Anthony was called to order <br /> by the Mayor at 8:00 o'clock P.M. on Tuesday June 6, 1967. <br /> The following were pressot ,®t roll call : <br /> O'Connor, Dougherty, Springer, Bailey, Sorenson <br /> Absent: None <br /> Also present: DeWayne Olson, Village engineer <br /> Raymond Haik, Village Attorney <br /> John Printon, Village Manager <br /> The Mayor announced that this is the time and the place for the holding of <br /> public hearings on 1967 Improvements as advertised in the official Village <br /> newspaper. <br /> Item #1 - Sidewalk Improvements-Silver Lake Road from St. Anthony Boulevard <br /> to 37th Avenue N.E. <br /> Mayor O'Connor acknowledged resolutions received by various groups and also <br /> requests for removal of names on the petition for sidewalks as presented to the <br /> • Council on March 14, 1967. <br /> DeWayne Olson, Village engineer, presented costs for the proposed project as <br /> follows: <br /> Estimated Cott of Improvement - $130,074.00 <br /> (West Side $54,400.00 - East Side $75,674.00) <br /> He explained that no contingencies for claims for damages due to change in <br /> grade were included in the estimate. - <br /> Total frontage - 110276' <br /> Cost 1 ft. - total - 11.50 <br /> (West frontage 5572' - East frontage - 5,7041 ) <br /> The Mayor opened the matter for discussion. Mrs. Robert L. Crouse stated that <br /> she felt the improvement not to be a benefit. Mr. Peter Andrescik, 3021 Silver <br /> Lake Road objected to the improvement. Dr. John B. Hatcher, 3104 Silver Lake <br /> Road asked if the Village engineer had considered alternate locations of the <br /> sidewalks. DeWayne Olson, Village engineer, answered that alternatives had <br /> been considered and abandoned as not practical . Mrs. Joseph Stroncek asked <br /> what provisions were made to make garages below grade accessible. Mr. Olson <br /> indicated that in some instances lawns would have to be regraded to match the <br /> changes in grade. Jacqueline $hick, 3609 Silver Lake Road, asked to whom <br /> legal costs would be assessed if claims arose from the sidewalk construction. <br /> She was advised that those costs would be a part of the total project costs. <br /> Mr. Mike Shun, 2913-33rd Ave. N.E., stated that he felt sidewalks were not <br /> needed in the Village. Mr. Joseph Killpatrick, 2901 - 32nd Ave. N.E. asked if <br /> alternate locations were given serious consideration. Mr. Olson informed <br /> him that alternates were fully studied.
