J"►sst. <br /> Pisr;y;; Der.-S, Chm. 1?.,man Rights Committee <br /> Absent: Councilman Haik <br /> The following arsenrl.�nents were made to the Coancil minutes of April 23, 1974: <br /> Page 1 -::,ra. 9: Hur:ian Rights Committee motion should be amonded to read <br /> as fellows: "Mo ion Y.r� !:��r�r Miedtke, econ1�!d by Councilman Sun...la.nd <br /> not to send the letter prepared by the Human Right CG��i.ttze to Judge <br /> Arthur but at the same time, not to disccurr).ge the members of the committee <br /> from sending letters signed by the commit`c.ee members whose sentiments they <br /> reflect." <br /> Page 4:1)ara. 8: Change to read: "Motion by Major Miedu: a and seconded by <br /> Councilman Sundland to adopt Resolution J`j4-020 calling for ^ pu_)lic <br /> hearing on May 28th., 1974 on the public improvement and to bf:gin <br /> proceedings to repair and/or to replace 29th Avenue N.E. , Coolidge Street <br /> N.E. and Penrod-36th Avenue N.E. and also t:. direct the City Engineer to <br /> begin preparing plans for the project." <br /> Motion by Councilman_ Sundland, seconded by Councilman Stai;ffer •'o approve the <br /> minutes as amended. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Vickrey gave the first reading of Ordinance 1974-005 which updated the 1973 <br /> Code of Ordinances to comply with the 1974 state legislation regarding biennial <br /> elections, explaining the ordinance provided for the elections to be held in odd <br /> numbered years an^ eliminated an election in 1974, with candidates for the mayor's <br /> position running for a two year term and those for the positions ::::w he'd by <br /> Councilman Haik and Sauer running for four year terms, all in 1.;•75. The new <br /> ordinance extend:-'.
