-6-
Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Mayor Mied.tke to table action on the
• new assessment policy until thA '\Iay 27th Council meetAng.
Motion carried unanimousi.y.
• Mr. Comstock presented tiie proposal fur e i ;;on roadway for 29th Avenue N,E,.
which he said the District Office o_' the Minnesota Highway Department would
accept. He reported the highway Department would accept a 39 ft. face to face
road but preferred a 40 ft. wide stree-L since the extra foot would not increase
traffic and would alloy; possible construction of a bikeway on one side. The
Engineer also stated that a 40 ft. roadway would not substantially change the
grade of the existing driveways along 29th.
The revised figures of approximately $3259000 were a:.so pvovided by Mr. Comstock
who agreed to update the Supplamntary Report to stow that increase in figures
as well as to make a comparison of costs to the residents for the installation
of an MSA funded roadway; a 7 ton road or what cost would be involved in just
patching the holes in the street and resurfacing. These figures would be
provided for consideration at the May 27th Council meeting where the Council
anticipates making some decision on the improvement.
Motion by Mayor Miedtke, seconded by Councilman Sauer to direct the Manager
and Engineer to prepare the necessary background information for a. 40 ft. wide
face to face, 9 ton roadway for the improvement of 29th Avenue and to direct
the Manager to inform the residents on that street that the Council anticipates
taking action on the upgrading project at its May 27th meeting.
Motion carried unanimously.
• The plans from Ramsey County for the upgrading of Silver Lake Road and the
city's installation of walkways were discussed by Mr. Dulgar who reported that
the Ramsey County Highway Department wanted to know, whether the City intended
constructing pathways on the East as well as the West side of the road. The
Council indicated that they only intended to build walkways on the West side
at this time.
The Engineer indicated he had no further communication from the Lamppa Construc-
tion Company regarding how they planned to finish work on Water Improvement
Project 1974-1 but understood some work had been done within the last few days.
Councilman Stauffer indicated that the Suburban Rate Authority is intervening
in the NSP rate case.
The Manager gave an up--to-date report on negotiations with the School Board
regarding the use of Parkview School for a city hall.
The Mayor reported on the nominees for election to the Board of the Association
of Minnesota Municipalities at the meeting May 22.
A discussion of how the recreation center in the St. Ancnony SIS piling Center,
the Time Machine, is being run preceded the following motion:
Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Iiaik to grant all. licenses
listed in the May 13th agenda.
• Motion carried unanimously,
