• Council reviewed a memo from the City Manager regarding improvement <br /> of County Road "C" and "D" . <br /> Mayor Miedtke opened discussion of the Skycroft/Maplewood area prob- <br /> lem by requesting the Manager to outline the information prepared <br /> for the Council. <br /> Several residents of the area expressed their opinions and concerns <br /> regarding the problem(s) : <br /> Shirley Larson, 3411 Maplewood Drive, presented several petitions <br /> from residents of streets adjacent to Skycroft Drive opposing the <br /> closing of Skycroft and Maplewood Drives. <br /> The Council and residents of the area expressed concern over the need <br /> for everyone in the area to cooperate to try to solve the driving, <br /> nuisance and drinking problems . <br /> Council discussion ensued. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland and seconded by Councilman Stauffer to <br /> direct the Police Department to continue to enforce all traffic laws, <br /> particularly speeding laws, to the fullest extent of the law and also <br /> to commend them for the fine efforts in the Skycroft/Maplewood area <br /> in recent weeks. <br /> • Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Stauffer and seconded by Mayor Miedtke to table <br /> action on the request to close Maplewood and Skycroft Drives. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> The Preliminary Metropolitan Systems Statement was discussed by the <br /> Council and no concerns were expressed. The Manager indicated he <br /> would inform the Metro Council that the preliminary Systems statement <br /> met with St. Anthony's approval. <br /> Council directed the Manager to send Senator Gene Stokowski a letter <br /> thanking him for his excellent representation of the City, particular- <br /> ly on the Conference Committee that finalized the Ominbus Tax bill. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland and seconded by Councilman Haik to ap- <br /> prove the licenses as presented in the June 14th Agenda and including <br /> a restaurant license for the Northgate Motel. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland and seconded by Councilman Stauffer to <br /> • approve the verified claims. <br /> (3) <br />
