City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • January 23, 2001 <br /> Page 13 <br /> 1 Planning Commissioner Hanson stated they look forward to a joint session with the City <br /> 2 Council. <br /> 3 Mayor Cavanaugh stated his support for the Planning Commission's goals for 2001. <br /> 4 XI. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> 5 City Manager's report: <br /> 6 City Manager Michael Morrison noted the Council has indicated a desire to schedule a study <br /> 7 session each month, however, some City business may need to be addressed at the study session. <br /> 8 He reviewed the types of issues that will be discussed at the study sessions which will be <br /> 9 broadcast and meeting minutes recorded. <br /> 10 Morrison noted that a 4/5ths vote is required for a conditional use permit so that activity could <br /> 11 not occur at the February 27, 2001 meeting since two members have indicated they will be <br /> 12 absent. <br /> Planning Commissioner Hanson stated he thinks the fitness center could continue without a <br /> 41 concept review. <br /> 15 Sparks advised that the Middle Mississippi Water Management Organization is proceeding to the <br /> 16 Legislature to see if they can levy within the subwatershed. If that is not successful, they plan to <br /> 17 issue a levy and guarantee any money generated from St. Anthony will be spent on projects <br /> 18 within St. Anthony. <br /> 19 Sparks announced the Kiwanis meeting to be held tomorrow at the Stonehouse where Mayor <br /> 20 Cavanaugh will talk about the State of the City. <br /> 21 Sparks announced the receipt of a$5,000 grant to offer enrichment classes at Wilshire Park. <br /> 22 Sparks advised that at the Community Prevention Coalition meeting last week, it was indicated <br /> 23 there will be a new target market, a grassroots organization of young people working against the <br /> 24 cigarette industry. <br /> 25 Sparks stated the Girl Scouts are selling cookies and encouraged all to purchase from them. <br /> 26 Mayor Cavanaugh stated he received a call from the Chair of VillageFest who was wondering <br /> 27 where it can occur this year since the park will be under construction. He stated he suggested a <br /> 8 meeting be held to discuss what can be done this year. <br /> 30 XII. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br /> 31 This item was considered earlier in the meeting. <br />
