City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • January 23, 2001 <br /> Page 3 <br /> 1 Mr. Tedlund stated he thought he acted prudently and had not attempted to short-circuit any City <br /> 2 process. He stated the information received on Friday that a conditional use permit is required <br /> 3 causes problems since he has already signed the lease. <br /> 4 Mayor Cavanaugh stated he believes the ordinances are easily understood and he does not think <br /> 5 waiting until March 27, 2001 is too long. <br /> 6 Horst stated he would support by-passing the concept review and holding the public hearing in <br /> 7 February. He noted also that the Council has discussed canceling the February 27, 2001, meeting <br /> 8 so a workshop can be held. Horst stated he believes the process can be followed directly to the <br /> 9 Planning Commission public hearing and recommendation, and concluded within 30 days. <br /> 10 Mayor Cavanaugh questioned the size of the proposed fitness club and the applicant's past <br /> 11 business experience. Mr. Tedlund advised of the size of the fitness center and his business <br /> 12 experience. He stated he has surrounded himself with knowledgeable business people. <br /> 13 Mayor Cavanaugh restated his support to follow the established process which he believes is fair <br /> 44 and has been required of other businesses. <br /> 15 Hearing no further response, Cavanaugh moved forward with the agenda. <br /> 16 VII. CONSENT AGENDA. <br /> 17 The following corrections were made to the January 9, 2001 Council meeting minutes: <br /> 18 Page 2, line 10, "He explained the City just completed this process at..." <br /> 19 Page 2, line 18, "Mornson stated he has spoken to Bob Kost..." <br /> 20 Page 14, line 3, "a different opinion than Bob Kost..." <br /> 21 Motion by Sparks to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. Said Consent Agenda consisted <br /> 22 of: <br /> 23 1. Council Regular Meeting Minutes—January 9, 2001, as corrected, and <br /> 24 2. Claims. <br /> 25 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 26 VIII. PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br /> 27 A. Resolution 01-031 re: Amendment to the Chandler Place TIF Plan. <br /> 28 Mayor Cavanaugh opened the public hearing at 7:28 p.m. <br /> 0 <br /> 29 City Manager er Michael Momson explained this action would allow the City to purchase Custom <br /> 30 Liquidators which is already within the TIF Plan.
