CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> RESOLUTION 94-013 <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION <br /> FOR BOARD OF GOVERNMENT INNOVATION AND <br /> COOPERATION GRANT; COOPERATION PLANNING GRANT <br /> WHEREAS, the 1993 Minnesota State Legislature approved a $1.2 million grant fund for local <br /> units of government to plan and implement cooperative and service sharing <br /> projects; <br /> WHEREAS, the money will be awarded to the most innovative proposals; those that cannot be <br /> addressed locally because of some of the special and excessive costs to plan a <br /> coopera�five arrangement or provide a prototype for other governments to follow <br /> to institute comparable changes; <br /> WHEREAS, since about 1981 the cities of New Brighton, Mounds View, Fridley, Shoreview, <br /> Arden Hills, and St. Anthony have talked about sharing building inspection <br /> services because each city has a difficult time matching its level of staffing to <br /> swings in the level of remodeling and construction projects; <br /> WHEREAS, New Brighton has been able to examine remodeling and construction trends for all <br /> of the aforementioned cities over the last 5 years, researched other joint powers <br /> agreements, and examined potential staffing needs for a shared building inspection <br /> service; <br /> WHEREAS, it is time to refine the plan, and find out if there is commitment to implement a <br /> shared building inspection service. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council of the City of St. <br /> Anthony authorize staff to participate with the City of New Brighton, and support their efforts, <br /> to apply for a $25,000 cooperation planning grant for the purpose of assessing the feasibility of <br /> shared building inspection services. <br /> Adopted this �_ day of n l,l_C,—ry , 1994. <br /> Mayor <br /> ATTEST: <br /> City Clerk <br /> • Reviewed for administration: <br /> City Manager <br />
