• <br /> CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> RESOLUTION 98-073 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING SETTLEMENT <br /> AND AUTHORIZING PAYMENT THEREOF <br /> WHEREAS, the City of St. Anthony is one member of the so called "Schnitzer Site Group". <br /> Said Group was formed when the University of Minnesota and the Cities of <br /> Minneapolis and St. Paul brought suit against a group of cities and others who <br /> allegedly utilized the Schnitizer site for the dumping of hazardous <br /> materials/waste; and <br /> WHEREAS, the complainants have tentatively accepted the Schnitzer Site Group's offer of$1 <br /> million to settle the case; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of St. Anthony's portion of the settlement will be approximately <br /> $30,100, plus a pro-rated portion of the mediation costs, attorney's fees, and <br /> administrative cost of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. <br /> • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of St. Anthony <br /> hereby agrees to payment of its share of such settlement and the above costs related to the suit, <br /> pursuant to a settlement agreement acceptable to the City Attorney. <br /> Adopted this J 3_d' day of r , 1998. , <br /> Mayor <br /> ATTEST: GCPJ <br /> (L�Kltx� <br /> City Clerk <br /> Reviewed by Administration: <br /> City Manager <br /> • <br />
