ANTHONY <br /> COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> WORK SESSION <br /> April 26 , 1979 <br /> The meeting was called to order at 5 :15 p.m. <br /> Present: Sauer, Haik, Ranallo, Letourneau <br /> Absent: Sundland <br /> Also present: Fornell , City Manager <br /> Councilman Sundland arrived at 5 :40 p.m. <br /> The City Council discussed data processing and computerization needs <br /> as identified by the City Manager. Several different systems and <br /> approaches were discussed by Council members and the Manager. The <br /> possibility of the need for additional expertise on a system was <br /> noted and a few suggestions discussed. The Council accepted the <br /> Manager' s suggestion that he prepare performance specifications for <br /> a small in-house mini-computer for Council consideration. He also <br /> suggested that the City could discuss such a system with the staff <br /> of another city that has installed a mini-computer, then let bids <br /> and evaluate the resulting proposals . <br /> The Council discussed the organizational alternatives specified by <br /> is Rod Kelsey at some length. Several problem areas were discussed. <br /> The discussion centered around the responsibilities of the Clerk- <br /> Treasurer, Administrative Assistant, and a possible Finance Officer, <br /> and communications . The City Council decided to retain the present <br /> organization of a Clerk-Treasurer and Administrative Assistant. <br /> Staff development of all employees was encouraged, however. <br /> A meeting with Ray Nelson, Liquor Operations Manager, was scheduled <br /> for 6: 30 p.m. on May 8 , 1979 . <br /> Councilman Ranallo left at 7 : 15 p.m. <br /> The Council and Manager discussed ways of improving communications <br /> and goal setting. Various suggestions and ideas were discussed. <br /> The Council and Manager agreed to meet quarterly to discuss opera- <br /> tions , problems and goals . For the 1980 budget, the staff and <br /> Council are to develop lists of prioritized goals , by department. <br /> Motion by Sauer, seconded by Letourneau to adjourn. <br /> Motion carried.
