VILLAGE OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> PLANNING BOARD PUBLIC HEARING <br /> .!une 20, 1972 <br /> Meeting was called to order at 8:50 P.M. by Chairman Bratland. <br /> The following were present: Orville Fratland, Thomas Ondrey, Richard Letourneau. <br /> Absent: Carlson, Parriil, Kronk <br /> Also ,,Present : harry Lekson <br /> /This public hearing was regarding Savings & Loan structure at the south corner of <br /> 39th and Silver Lake Road. Presentation by Howard Dahlgren of Midwest Federal <br /> Savings & Loan. <br /> Mr. Dahlgren and a representative of the architectural firm proposing the structure <br /> appeared before the Planning Board with pictures and schematics of building and <br /> landscape proposals. Mr. Dahlgren explained that application with the Federal Home <br /> Loan Board had been made and approved for another Savings & Loan for the area, that- <br /> it would not interfere with present Savings & Loan Associations in the area. lie <br /> felt that this building would add to the area, and not cause any substantital <br /> traffic increase. lie proposed additional stoplights on Silver Lake Road at 39th <br /> Avenue and at Silver Lane. <br /> Jim Voight was the architect that appeared. <br /> • The building would be a small branch office with five to eight people employed. <br /> Two drive in tellers, six inside. A two story construction with tellers on the <br /> first floor and community room on the second floor and employees office on the <br /> second floor. <br /> Mr. Jay 1Ci tzrow stated that this u—u ld cause too much noise from starting and <br /> stopping traffic at the corner of 39th & Silver Lake Road. <br /> Mrs. Phyllis Haas stated we need a light at 39th & Silver Lake Road and we should <br /> not consider any new structures that would add to the traffic problems until we <br /> have the light to solve our current traffic problems. <br /> Mr. Fred Lavicky of 3920 Macalaster Drive was opposed because of the increased <br /> traffic. <br /> 0 <br /> Mr. Dick Merrill representing the Silver Lake Homeowners Association commented <br /> that at a recent meeting of the association the homeowners were opposed to sign <br /> at Silver Lane because with the improvemant of Stinson Boulevard and 40th Avenue <br /> by Columbia Heights, it would cause increase traffic cutting across Silver Lane. <br /> Mrs. Ruth Thompson of 3015 39th Avenue N.E. was opposed because of traffic. <br /> Mrs. Chester Nelson of 3916 Macalaster was opposed and stated if we have one <br /> commercial building, in five years it will all be commercial. <br /> • Mrs. Ruth Thompson was opposed because the streets in the Penrod Area are so badly <br /> cracked now, that additional traffic will ruin it completely, they will have to be <br /> replaced, and the residents will have to pay. <br /> I <br />
