r <br /> VILLAGE OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br /> November 19, 1968 <br /> 1. The regular meeting of the Planning Board was called to order by Chairman <br /> Howitz at 7:40 P.M. on Tuesday, November 19, 1968. <br /> 2. The following were present at roll call : Mesenbring, Kronk, Miedtke, Harty, <br /> Howitz. <br /> Absent: Englund. <br /> 3. The minutes of the October 15, 1968 meeting were approved after a correction on <br /> page 2, item 9b, to table the request by Gordon Hedlund for a town house complex <br /> and not as listed that it be denied. <br /> 4. The Chairman announced that this was the time and place to hold a public <br /> hearing for a zoning change in the area East of Kenzie Terrace, North of Lowry <br /> Avenue and West of Wilson Street. Mr. Donald Best, 2342 Taft Street N. E. presented <br /> a petition with the names of people expressing concern over the possibility of re- <br /> zoning any part of the above area to allow apartment buildings. Mr. Lloyd C. <br /> Anderson, 3515 Architect Avenue N. E., First mard Alderman, spoke in behalf of the <br /> Minneapolis residents and their concern about the possible rezoning to allow apart- <br /> ments in this area. After discussion with all the people that wanted to be heard <br /> the Chairman declared the hearing closed. Upon motion by Kronk, seconded by Harty <br /> to defer action on any zoning change until the Board checks with the Village <br /> • Attorney on the procedure for the widening of Lowry Avenue. <br /> Voting on the motion: <br /> Aye: Mesenbring, Kronk, Howitz, Harty. <br /> Nay: Miedtke. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 5. Ordinance variations. <br /> a. After discussion with Benjamin A. Gingold for a variance to build a three <br /> story apartment building at 37th and Chandler Drive, a motion by Miedtke, seconded <br /> by Mesenbring to recommend to the Council that preliminary approval be given and <br /> that a planting plan be included with the final plans. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> b. Sam Parks owner of the Fashion Shop appeared requesting approval to re- <br /> locate his present sign at 2907 Pentagon Drive N. E. to the old bank location now <br /> occupied by Frank Neuman. He also would like to replace the letters on the side <br /> facing Red Owl which would result in 125 sq. ft. of sign area or 25 sq. ft. over <br /> the maximum of 100 sq. ft. allowed for this store. Upon motion by Miedtke, <br /> seconded by Kronk, to recommend to the Council that a variance be approved to <br /> • allow two signs and a 25 sq. ft. variance in sign area. <br /> Motion carried. <br />
