CHAPTER 6: LANDSCAPING
— The landscaping at the Village at St. Anthony will be a pri-
mary component in establishing the redevelopment's iden-
tity. The landscape character will be comprised of a variety
of landscape types -- each designed for specific sites and
experiences --that, through the use of common species and
character, will maintain consistency throughout the site.
Landscaping is described in detail on the "Preliminary Land-
scape Plan." Landscape types are covered briefly on the
following pages.
Basic Principles
• Emphasis on the "floral history" of the site – both
economic history and natural history – by utilizing
heavily flowering native and cultivated species,
such as roses, crab apples, flowering shrubs,
perennials, and annuals.
• Year long color:
f!"/
o Spring: flowering ornamental trees r ~'
'
o Summer: annuals, perennials, flowering
shrubs
o Fall: annuals, perennials, flowering shrubs
o Winter: fruit bearing trees and shrubs, trees
and shrubs with interesting bark.
Consistent planting types and character throughout
the site.
35
August, 2003
