Review of the Planning Commission By-Laws . City Manager Mike Mornson
introduced the Planning Commission by-laws. He reported that these by-laws were
made part of the City's Ordinances in the late 1990s. They can be found in Chapter 32 of
the City Code, subdivision 32.07. Discussion.
The possibility of having the Planning Commission packet sent out electronically was
discussed. It was also asked if the Planning Commission packet could be delivered on
Wednesday instead of Friday. Many commissioners agreed that this would be a
welcomed change because Fridays seem late to be getting a packet that they need to read
before their meeting. There was discussion about a hard copy packet being ready for
pick up by Wednesday and those that weren't picked up to be delivered on Friday.
2. GTS Training Opportunities. Assistant City Manager reported that most of the
Government Training Services classes for Plaruling Commissioners had already been
held for the year. She explained that training schedules are sent out at the beginning of
the year and most classes are finished by April or May.
The City Manager also reported that the League of Minnesota Cities also has videos that
could be borrowed and viewed by the Commission at a work session. He suggested that
League attorneys are available to speak to the Commission, as are trainers from other
cities.
The Chair also suggested that they may be able to invite speakers to a Commission work
session, i.e. planners from Bonestroo.
F \Planning\Minutes\2010\Planning Commissionf worksession 09212010.doc
