Morrison <br />May 1, 1997 <br />Page 2 <br />Alternative `B' shows a long term reconfiguration of the three ball fields to better <br />meet the needs of multiple user groups and accommodate soccer fields in a <br />portion of the outfield areas. The plan also suggests a reconfiguration of the <br />northern parking lot, play area, sand volley ball court and a relocation of the <br />sledding hill. These changes are necessitated by the redesign of the ball fields. <br />Approximately 65 parking spaces would be displaced as part of this redesign. <br />Preliminary construction costs for Alternative `B' are estimated to run <br />approximately $450,000 not including building demolition or construction of the <br />bandstand. <br />Alternative `C' illustrates a more ambitious long term plan for the entire park <br />including two of the high school athletic fields. The plan organizes the ball fields <br />in a radial pattern around a new concessions /restroom building. The sledding hill <br />remains in its present location and the northern parking lot, play area and volley <br />ball are reconfigured as part of this design. Preliminary construction costs for <br />Alternative `C' are estimated to run approximately $550,000 not including <br />building demolition or construction of the bandstand. <br />I look forward to discussing these alternatives with you and the City Council next <br />week.
