To: Mayor and Council members
From Barb Suciu, City Clerk VP
Date: 11/19/2010
Currently, the City of St. Anthony produces a quarterly, 12 -page newsletter. This is printed in two -color and
distributed to all the residents and businesses of St. Anthony. This equals about 5,000 copies per distribution.
The St Anthony/New Brighton School District produces a 12 -page newsletter three times during the school year
and once during the summer. This is printed in two -color and is distributed to all the residents of the St.
Anthony/New Brighton School District. This equals to about 8,000 copies per distribution
Attached is a cost analysis between the City and the School District. As you can see, the school district prints
more copies and their costs are less than the City's. The City uses a local printer and the school district
outsources their newsletter to a company out of the city.
With both entities producing a 12 -page newsletter it would be very difficult to share a newsletter. Both
newsletters are filled with useful information for the residents. One solution would be increase the number of
issues of the newsletter from per year to six per year. With the extra editions, the two entities could possibly
print all the necessary information.
The logistics of combining the City and School District's newsletters would be somewhat complex. You first
have the distribution discrepancy. The city would want to continue distributing to all businesses within the city
and 1 would presume the school district would want to keep their distribution as is.
