STAFF REPORT <br />To: Mayor and City Council Report No.: <br />City Manager j (� <br />From: Kim Moore- Sykes, Assistant City Manager �,b J <br />Date: October 25, 2005 <br />Subject: Wireless Internet <br />The City has received a proposal from Virchow Krause to do a feasibility study to more fully assess the City's <br />needs as they relate to wireless Internet. As part of the proposal Virchow Krause proposes to review wireless <br />opportunities that may exist in St. Anthony, provide a picture of the current telecommunications environment in <br />St. Anthony, determine a wireless fit with existing infrastructure and an overall connectivity strategy and <br />reviewing next steps for the City. <br />Staff have also attended meetings with the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), a subcommittee of the 10 -city <br />Cable Commission Consortium, where the topic of discussion was the possibility of develnninu a •virrlpC. <br />Internet network. They too, have discussed going out for proposals to study this idea and inventorying each <br />member city's infrastructure and connectivity possibilities.
