Housing and Redevelopment Authority Meeting Minutes
•February 13, 1996
Page 3
Mr. Solie noted they would lease land from the railroad. He stated there is up to 75 feet
available.
3 Mr. Jerry Cowan noted the property had been filled with concrete and old asphalt. Old
4 aerial maps show the site was almost level with the American Monarch building at one
5 time. Soil correction is expected to be very expensive.
6 Mayor Ranallo suggested the Mr. Cowan and Mr. Solie hold neighborhood meetings and
7 explain the project to the residents before presenting the proposal to the Planning
8 Commission.
9 Tom Thielen, President of Systec, stated his company was currently located by Happy's
10 Potato Chips and has been located in St. Anthony for 15 years. He stated they would like
11 to stay in the City of St. Anthony as the location is central with easy access from the
12 freeway and they like the neighborhood environment. He stated their current location is
13 7,500 square feet. Mr. Thielen explained his company does business internationally and
14 is primarily a firm of professionals, employing mostly engineers and technicians. He
15 stated he would like to relocate to the new facility in September or October of 1996.
There was HRA consensus that this appeared to be a desirable project and members
encouraged the developers to move forward.
19 VIII. OTHER BUSINESS - None.
20 IX.
