2016 Annual Report • Fire Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

1 | Page

I. Fire Department
By Fire Chief Mark Sitarz
Non sibi is a term that means “not for self”. This was something that was shared with me by a
consultant that was working with the city. He referenced it only a few times during his
presentation however it was something that really stood out and hit home. My immediate
reaction was thinking about the fire department and the firefighters that make it whole. It is that
constant that seems to be in each of them which ties the “not for self” concept to their
commitment to community service. As you read through this report I believe you will notice the
true dedication to others that the members of the St. Anthony Fire Department have shown
through this past year.
The St. Anthony Fire Department is a combination paid on-call and full-time department
working out of one station. To provide an immediate response, 24-hours a day, the department
is made up of seven full-time personnel and 23 paid on-call personnel. The Fire Department
provides fire suppression, emergency response at the EMT level and hazardous materials
response at the operations level. The Fire Department also provides code inspection and
enforcement, fire prevention and education, administers the City’s disaster response programs
and the City Code Enforcement program.
Fire Department apparatus consist of two 1250 GPM pumpers, a 1500 pumper, a step van, a
rescue response truck and a staff automobile for administrative response use. Specialized
equipment includes automatic defibrillators, Lucas 2 device, hydraulic rescue tools (jaws of life)
and a mobile air cascade system.
