This initiative has
been a long standing objective of the City Council as part of the City’s goal of building and
cultivating environmental responsibility.
Pursuant to the Minnesota Organized Collection Statute, M.S. 115A.94 (“Statute”), the recently
amended process began in 2014 with a 60-day negotiation period exclusively with the existing
residential refuse collectors and the City Manager to develop a proposal for the collection of
trash and recyclables. The City of St. Anthony used the following priorities (listed in
alphabetical order) as the basis for negotiating and developing agreement with the collectors.
The priorities are:
Allocate Adequate Staff Resources
Assure All Residents Have Adequate Trash and Recycling Services
Enhance Coordination Among Government Agencies
Public Education and Awareness
Improve Hauler Reporting Systems
243
192
247
2013 2014 2015
Clean Up Day Participation
243 192
247
