IV. Responses
2014 Annual Report · Fire Department · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota
7
2013 and 2014 had the same number of fi res
that we responded to. Fires attributed to 1.90%
of all incidents in 2014 with a total of 26 fi res
which included our mutual aid responses. Overall
in the Fire Service, structure fi res are being better
contained to a single room of origin due to sprinkler
systems, fi re alarms, stronger codes, better public
education and quicker response rates. The typical
fi re is called a “room and contents fi re” where
the fi re itself is contained to the room. However,
fi res are burning at faster and hotter rates due to
all of the synthetic material that is now used in
our everyday lives. One other side effect of the
synthetics is the smoke that is being generated.
Smoke now contains more poisonous gases that
can cause people to succumb much faster. That
is why it is important to have working smoke
detectors which will alert you early on in order for
you and your family to get out quickly.
In 2014 fi res in St. Anthony included property totaling $32,391,377 which included $73,512 of fi re losses
and $32,317,865 saved. In 2014 the total percent saved during fi re loss in St. Anthony was 99.77%. One
particular fi re was a dumpster fi re located inside a property in an underground garage. That fi re was contained
however the complete property value is taken into account.
Dollar Loss from Fire
Total Fire Calls
0
20
40
2008
2008
2009
2009
2010
2010
2011
2011
2012
2012
2013
2013
2014
2014
262640353439
$7,850 $994,800 $29,606 $42,800 $392,873 $20,455 $73,512
32Total Fire Calls
Nu
m
b
e
r

o
f

C
a
l
l
s
$0
$200,000
$400,000
$600,000
$800,000
$1,000,000
Dollar Loss from Fire
Do
l
l
a
r

A
m
o
u
n
t
