V. Patrol Review
2014 Annual Report · Police Department · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota
9
While statistics paint some of the picture, there are many
things that they fail to refl ect. As stated previously,
traffi c enforcement brings about safer travels and a safer
community. Offi cers exercise discretion in their dealings with
traffi c violators and not every encounter ends with a citation
issued. In instances where a warning is given rather than a
citation, this activity would not be refl ected statistically.
Even more important and equally diffi cult to measure is the
time a patrol offi cer gives to the community on a daily basis.
This could be anticipating a problem area and providing an
extra police presence, working with community members
to solve ongoing problems at their roots, or by getting
out of the squad car to talk with business employees and
residents to get to know them better. These activities are
what is engrained in the culture of the St. Anthony Police
Department and what each patrol offi cer values as essential
to furthering the mission that is vital to creating and
maintaining the wonderful community that is St. Anthony.
Active enforcement of traffi c laws in essential toward suppressing and detecting crime, reducing traffi c
crashes, and creating a safer community for those that live, work, and visit the City of St. Anthony.
The patrol division is committed to such goals and this is evident when considering the following patrol
statistics for 2014.
Total Citations Issued: 2338
• Moving Violations: 2017
• Non-moving Violations: 321886%%%888686%%%%%
332213332322121,,,,,1144%%1114144%4%%%
ed: 2338tions IssuTotal CitatCitatioTotal C
Moving Violations
Non-Moving Violationsssss
1144%%1114144%4%%%
ed: 2338tions IssuTotal CitatCitatioTotal C
Moving Violations
Non-Moving Violationsss
Total Arrests: 880
• 39 were for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)
• 633 were for traffi c related offenses
• 130 were for criminal related offenses
• 53 were for felony level crimes
• 25 were for outstanding warrants
