3 <br />1 City Engineer Todd Hubmer reviewed the resolution under consideration to award the contract <br />2 for construction on the Highway Safety Improvement Program to the lowest bidder. Bids were <br />3 received for the project on Thursday, February 16, 2017, opened, and read aloud. A total of 5 <br />4 bids were received. The bids were checked for mathematical accuracy and tabulated. The bid <br />5 tabulation indicates the low bidder as Sunram Construction Inc. of Corcoran, MN in the amount <br />6 of $1,097,362.20. Staff recommends the City Council consider the bids and award a contract to <br />7 Sunram Construction. <br />8 <br />9 Councilmember Gray noted there were three bids within $3,000 and they all beat the engineer <br />10 estimates of the project. Mr. Hubmer stated the calculations are rechecked and corrected as <br />11 necessary. Councilmember Gray added Stinson Blvd. looks great. <br />12 <br />13 Councilmember Stille stated the Mirror Lake project has been going well and asked how Sunram <br />14 Construction is when working with the City. Mr. Hubmer stated they are working well with the <br />15 City. Councilmember Stille mentioned the Safe Route to School Grant that was obtained in 2013. <br />16 This has been in the City's plan since 2000. <br />17 <br />18 Mayor Faust noticed on the drawing for the traffic signal the arrow indicating direction. <br />19 <br />20 Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Stille, to adopt Resolution 17- <br />21 040; a Resolution Awarding a Bid for the 2017 37th Avenue Sidewalk and Signal Project to <br />22 Sunram Construction Inc. in the amount of $1,097,362.20. <br />23 <br />24 Motion carried 4 -0. <br />25 <br />26 Mr. Hubmer mentioned there have been a number of residents requesting improvements to the <br />27 intersections to allow for wheel chair access and he is pleased these improvements will now be <br />28 made. <br />29 <br />30 C. Resolution 17 -041 a Resolution Awarding a Bid for the Silver Lake Road LED Street <br />31 Light Improvement Project. <br />32 <br />33 City Engineer Hubmer reviewed this resolution awards the contract for the Silver Lake Road <br />34 LED Street Light Improvement Project to the lowest bidder. Bids were received on Thursday, <br />35 April 13, 2017, were opened, and read aloud. Eight bids were received. The bids were checked <br />36 for mathematical accuracy and tabulated. The bid summary was provided for Council review. <br />37 The low bid was received from Killmer Electric Co., Inc., Crystal, Minnesota in the amount of <br />38 $416,174.46. The project is a cooperative effort between the City of St. Anthony Village and the <br />39 City of New Brighton which include LED street lighting replacements on Silver Lake Road from <br />40 37' Avenue NE to I -694 with each community responsible for only funding improvements to <br />41 their respective lighting systems. The total low bid amount is broken into two separate schedules <br />42 for improvements in each city. The bid amount for the St. Anthony Village improvement totals <br />43 $196,929.84. New Brighton is anticipated to review these bids and consider awarding a contract <br />44 for their portion of the project totaling $219,244.62 at their next regular Council meeting. If <br />45 approved, work will be completed throughout this summer. <br />46 <br />
