2 <br />B. Dare 2 Be Real Students Presentation <br />Councilmember Brever introduced students from the Dare 2 Be Real program at the high school. <br />She provided a brief summary of what the students did. Mr. Estrada, the adviser was present and <br />introduced the students (captains and future captains). The students described the program and <br />noted three community meetings have been held. <br />9 Councilmember Brever thanked the group for attending, wished the seniors the best of luck, and <br />10 thanked them for leading the three community meetings. <br />11 <br />12 Councilmember Stille suggested the Kiwanis organization may be a group they should meet with <br />13 and give a presentation. One of the students mentioned the Key Club at the high school, which is <br />14 affiliated with the Kiwanis. <br />15 <br />16 Mayor Faust stated the title of Captain will show leadership for future endeavors. Mayor Faust <br />17 stated he started out as a Student Council member in High School, noting the students are <br />18 showing a great attitude. He stated the community meetings were very good and thanked Mr. <br />19 Estrada and the students for their involvement. <br />20 <br />21 C. Summer Survival Camp Presentation <br />22 <br />23 Police Chief Jon Mangseth thanked the Dare 2 Be Real students and for their organization of the <br />24 community meetings and stated the Police Department wants to be part of the process going <br />25 forward. Police Chief Mangseth introduced Officer Jim South and Firefighter Joe Basara. He <br />26 announced the dates for the Summer Survival Camp are June 14 -15, 2017. This is a camp for 41 <br />27 graders and is the 7' annual camp. Officer South and Firefighter Basara provided a summary of <br />28 the camp, reviewed the daily activities, and indicated the camp is full this year with a waiting <br />29 list. <br />30 <br />31 Councilmember Gray asked how many kids are in the program. Officer South stated there are 55 <br />32 kids. The number of kids are limited due to staff time and there are currently 2 on the waiting <br />33 list. <br />34 <br />35 Mayor Faust stated he was amazed eight years have gone by with this program, noting it is a <br />36 positive impact with the children and the parents. He thanked them for their time and effort. A <br />37 photograph was taken of the group present. <br />38 <br />39 II1. CONSENT AGENDA. <br />40 <br />41 A.
