Bachelor of Arts in Journalism <br />• 1983: Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa <br />Professional Experience: <br />2010 - present: Otto Bremer Foundation, St. Paul, Minnesota <br />As a program officer, I analyze proposals from and recommend funding to non - profits in <br />Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota and utilize the social, moral, intellectual, reputational and <br />financial resources of one of the state's largest independent foundations to assist people in <br />achieving full economic, civic and social participation in and for the betterment of their <br />communities. <br />1999 - present: The Saint Paul Pioneer Press, St. Paul, Minnesota <br />As a critic and columnist with a regional and national expertise on theater and non - profit arts <br />organizations, I advocate for comprehensive cultural coverage, built the newspaper's brand with <br />extensive community relations work and worked collaboratively within a team to shape <br />comprehensive, analytical and forward- looking dialogue in the arts. In 2010, my role with the <br />Pioneer Press transitioned to independent contractor status. <br />2004 -2010: Minnesota Public Radio <br />As a regular contributor and commentator, l provided analysis and context on a breadth of arts <br />and culture issues to a statewide audience, / also forged a cooperative organizational link <br />between two of the Twin Cities media market's primary sources of cultural information. <br />1997 -1999: The Times - Picayune, New Orleans, Louisiana <br />As theater critic, reporter and columnist, I broadened the newspaper's cultural coverage by writing <br />about theater and performance art through the varying prism of fiscal, economic, cultural and <br />social perspectives. <br />1991- 1997: Duluth News - Tribune, Duluth, Minnesota <br />Covering everything from ballet to tractor pulls, I served a mid -sized community as the only <br />reporter in the region devoted exclusively to the coverage of arts and entertainment. <br />
