V. City Hall
2014 Annual Report · Administration · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota
25
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
In 2014, St. Anthony completed the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Planning
process for Wilshire Elementary. SRTS programs improve safety, reduce traffi c, and
improve air quality near schools. Rooted in the fi ve E’s of evaluation, engineering,
education, encouragement, and enforcement, Safe Routes to School offered a well-
rounded approach to improving the health and well-being of children by enabling
and encouraging them to walk and bike to school. St. Anthony received technical
assistance from a consultant team through MnDOT Safe Routes to School Planning
Grant. The assistance provided helped our local SRTS team (including the City,
School District, school staff, parents and students) in developing a Safe Routes to
School Plan that identifi ed projects and programs to enhance the safety of our streets
for children and families that want to walk and bike to school.
Metro I-Net
City of St. Anthony is part of a technology consortium for our information
technology (IT) services. Metro I-Net serves 36 agencies, over a 100 buildings in
four counties, and is one of the largest in the State. Only the State of Minnesota
and the University of Minnesota have larger networks. The Roseville IT Division
supports the technology needs of about 1,250 full-time employees, with another
350 part-time, temporary, seasonal and elected offi cials that require city email and
data access. Signifi cant effi ciencies have been gained through our advancements
in technology with them comes the need for continuous support 24 hours a day, 7
days a week, 365 days a year.
