2017 Annual Report • Fire Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

15 | Page

Incident Damage
Passenger Vehicle Fire $1,000 vehicle and contents
Cause determined to be residual heat from rags in bed of truck – just taken out of dryer

Passenger Vehicle Fire $21,000 Vehicle and Contents
Note the fire occurred during the night and was out when the called 911
Cause undetermined and not under investigation
Hennepin County Fire Investigation Team along with Lt. Basara investigated this fire

Deck Fire in Apartment Building $897 damage to the deck
Cause determined to be careless smoking

Passenger Vehicle Fire $1,400 Vehicle
Cause determined to be oil leak in engine compartment

Attic Fire $500 Structure
Cause determined to be damaged electrical wiring

Apartment Fire $150,000 in property, $10,000 in contents
Cause determined to be unattended cooking
*** This fire was controlled by the activation of 2 sprinkler heads. If there would have been no sprinklers
this would have been much worse and would have possibly resulted in injury or death given the
occupancy.***

There were several cooking incidents that resulted in no damage
Property Contents Total
2017 Total Fire Loss $172,767 $12,030 $184,797

2016 Total Fire Loss $10,100 $17,100 $27,200

2015 Total Fire Loss $255,000 $255,000

As you can see from the information above it takes just one incident to drive up your fire loss. I have
included information in the statistics section related to state wide fire loss. As with 2016 the presence of a
sprinkler system saved probably millions of dollars in potential fire loss and prevented a high probability
of fire death or serious injury.
