DAN DIEGNAU
Training for law enforcement officers is a vital and
important part of delivering quality and professional
police service to the community. The St. Anthony
Police Department is committed to maintaining
highly trained and professional service through
quality and continual training and education. Every
day is a training day!
The State of Minnesota currently requires all
licensed police officers to complete 48 hours of
continuing education credits, certified by the
Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and
Training (POST), every three years. New
legislation will mandate that 16 of the 48 required training hours be in the areas of crisis
intervention, conflict management and cultural diversity. This legislation will take effect July 1,
2018. As a note, other mandated training within the 48 hours included emergency vehicle
operation, use of force, and firearms training.
